Majse Lind

I have always been curious about people and their lived lives. What has shaped them, and especially how they talk about their lives. I want to use that knowledge to make a difference.
Majse is an assistant professor of clinical psychology at Aalborg University, and she has just been selected for AAU Excellence, the university's talent programme for ambitious early-career researchers with the potential to make their mark.
Her research focuses on how our personality develops – and how it develops inappropriately, particularly in young people with mental health problems like personality disorders.
- I have always been curious about people and their lived lives. What has shaped them, and especially how they talk about their lives. I want to use that knowledge to make a difference, says Majse Lind.
And the need for precisely this knowledge is acute because more and more young people are experiencing mental health problems. According to Majse, it is thus crucial that we understand the role of personality, including narrative identity, in this trend, and that we are better at spotting problems and preventing them early on.
- Narrative identity seems to already be distinct in adolescence. So with my research, I have fought for the diagnostic system to take narrative identity more into account in the understanding of personality disorders, Majse Lind explains.
For Majse, it means a great deal to be selected for AAU Excellence.
- It is a recognition of my research, as well as a huge opportunity, and not least motivation, to continue to develop as a researcher.
